INTERNATIONAL RETAILING
THE BRIEF
The aim of the International Retailing module was to creatively contribute to fashion and related industries in the local, UK or Global Markets. This enabled a business and area to be explored, practiced and challenged, thinking about the interrelationships between the commercial environments.

Due to the existing business being researched and planned to be moved into another market, current areas, cultural awareness, key drivers globally, supply chain management, target consumer, operations, brand identity, strategic planning, market place, competitive analysis, and wider business perspective, all had to be accessed when moving a company into another country.

I chose to focus on the Fashion Company, Mint Velvet. Being an employee for the company gave me an advantage, due to my existing knowledge of the company, and contacts I had in place to for primary research. With a limit of a 3,000 word count, I gave an insight of the current market position of Mint Velvet, about their consumer, finances, stores and USP. Moving Mint Velvet into France, allowed for research to be gained about the current market within this country, identifying why this particular country would be an ideal International move for the company. Later identifying that the type of Internationalisation will involve the 'organic growth,' allowing the founders to obtain full control of the stores within France.

This module gave me an insight about the legal requirements within different countries, looking at the different processes used, and cultural differences that would need to be researched and covered when moving a business into a new market.
